The Mission Of Cottonwood Community Church
To declare the transcendent majesty of our Father in heaven. To live in the reality of salvation in Jesus Christ, God's Eternal Son, the reigning King of the universe. To understand and apply the Word of God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. To trust God for all of our material and spiritual needs. To walk even as Jesus walked and to fulfill the Great Commission through evangelism, cultural renewal and in raising our children in the fear and instruction of the Lord. Cottonwood Community Church Articles of Covenant and Faith Articles of Covenant "And they entered into covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul" (2 Chron. 15:12). Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our personal Savior we do now in the presence of God, His holy angles and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. We therefore gladly devote ourselves to God and His will choosing Him for our portion forever; gladly pledging to Him our love and devotion and by grace through the power of the Holy Spirit, we shall endeavor to make His Word the rule of our faith and practice to take good heed to our own conduct, conversation and associations and to live to His glory. We engage, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian Love; to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances and sound doctrine. As Christian stewards we pledge to contribute cheerfully and regularly, as God enables us, to support of the ministry, the expense of the church and the worldwide spread of the gospel. Alone and at home we engage to maintain regular personal devotions, to bring up our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord and to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances. We pledge to walk circumspectly before the world, to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements and exemplary in our department and be diligent in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior. We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offence but always ready to reconcile and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay. We further engage to perform the sacred obligations conferred upon us in the Scripture, observing the Lord's Day, attending public worship with our families, striving to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We moreover engage, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to employ the divinely given means of grace for our spiritual nurture and growth, such as; the study of God's Word, testimony and Christian fellowship. All of which we engage to do by the enabling of the Holy Spirit and for the glory of God, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. Articles of Faith In Essentials Unity - In Non-Essentials Freedom We consider the following to be essentials: We believe in One God eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1, Jn. 10:30, Jn, 4:25). We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, in His, sinless humanity and in His deity. We believe that His blood was shed on the cross as the only atonement for the sins of mankind; He died, was buried and rose the third day. We believe in His bodily resurrection, ascension and Lordship (Luke 1:35, Heb. 4:15, Rom. 3:25, Acts 2:32-36, 1 Tim. 2:5). We believe that all Mankind is by nature eternally separated from God. All men who place faith in the substitutionary death of Christ and His shed blood for their sins are counted as righteous and justified in God's sight (Is. 53:6, Ezk. 18:20, Acts 13:38-39, Eph. 2:8-9). We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine Personality; convicting the world of sin and regenerating, indwelling, enlightening, empowering and guiding those who are members of Christ's Body (Jn. 16:8, 1 Cor. 3:16, Acts 1:8). We believe that all who have placed faith in Jesus Christ, confessing with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in their heart that God has raised Him from the dead, are members of the Body of Christ, the universal Church. The Church is called to a life of separation from worldly and sinful practices and to a life of ministry (1 Cor. 12:12-13, Rom. 10:9, 12:1-2, 1 Jn. 2:15-16, 2 Cor 6:14, Mark 16:15, Acts 1:8, James 4:4). We believe in the verbal inspiration and full authority of both the Old and New Testaments (2 Tim 3:16-17). We believe in the personality of Satan and the reality of hell (Job 1:6-7, Matt. 25:46). We believe that there will be a bodily resurrection of all. The saints are raised to be forever with the Lord and the unsaved will be confined for eternity in the Lake of Fire (Jn. 5:28-29, 1 Thess. 4:13-18, Rev. 20:11-15).
